Land O' Lakes Community Playground

Our goal for the musical community playground is to provide a safe, inclusive space where children and caregivers can gather and enjoy the outdoors. The new playground is being planned with an eye toward greater inclusion and will be wheelchair accessible
Land O' Lakes Community Playground
The town of Land O’ Lakes will soon benefit from a new community playground on the grounds of the Town Hall building. The theme for the project is “Play, then Stay.”
The playground is being constructed in two phases. Phase One, completed in summer 2022, features a new and fully accessible musical playground and swinging equipment. Phase Two, slated for installation in 2023 and 2024, will feature structures and equipment designed specifically for 2-5 and 6-12 year-olds.
The project is being spearheaded by Land O’ Lakes Public Art (LOLPA), with the support of the Town of Land O’ Lakes and community volunteers.
Between August 2021 and December 2021, LOLPA representatives conducted focus groups and distributed surveys to area business leaders, school employees, students, church members, and residents to gather input about new equipment and other needs for the play space. The Town Board received regular updates about the planning and ordered a survey of the space to determine the best location for the playground.

Bids were collected from three vendors. After careful consideration, LOLPA elected to contract with Lee Recreation, LLC. Lee Recreation, based in Cambridge, Wis., is the exclusive distributor of BCI Burke Playground, Park and Recreation Equipment. BCI Burke, headquartered in Fond du Lac, Wis., offers equipment catering to all ages and abilities, including freestanding pieces, components, and complete structures. Lee also is a distributor for Percussion Play Outdoor Musical Instruments.

Land O' Lakes Community Playground, Inc. was formed for the sole purpose of assisting with fundraising for the project. The playground itself is owned and operated by the Town of Land O' Lakes. All funding for the project is coming from private and public donations, grants, and corporate sponsorships.
Land O’ Lakes Community Playground, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) federal tax-exempt charity. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

SEASONAL
Enjoy timeless family fun

Welcome to Snowflake Ice Rink — A Winter Tradition in Land O’ Lakes

Tucked in the heart of Land O’ Lakes, the Snowflake Ice Rink is a beloved local gem where winter magic comes alive and time seems to slow down. Families return year after year to enjoy this classic rink—a throwback to simpler days filled with laughter, skating, and cozy memories.

The ice is carefully maintained every day to keep it smooth and skate-ready. A welcoming warming house is open to all, and in the evenings, twinkling lights make it perfect for night skating under the stars.
Need skates? No problem—you can borrow a pair right at the warming house. That’s just the kind of place this is.

On Saturdays during the holiday season, warm up with free hot dogs and hot cocoa served rink-side—a perfect way to end a chilly day with something warm and wonderful.

You’ll find the Snowflake Ice Rink just behind the Town Hall on County B, at 6492 Town Hall Road.

Dive Into the Beauty of Land O’ Lakes

Some mornings, the water here is so still and clear, you might hesitate to make a ripple. But some mirrors are meant to be broken—if only for a moment. And once you're here, good luck resisting the urge to take a refreshing dip in this place named for its many pristine lakes.

With over 100 lakes in the area, Land O’ Lakes offers endless opportunities for swimming. The waters are remarkably clean, with Black Oak Lake often celebrated as the clearest lake in all of Wisconsin. Just off County Highway B, you’ll find a public beach complete with changing rooms and restrooms—perfect for a family day at the lake.

For those craving even more solitude, head just north across the Wisconsin-Michigan border into the Sylvania Wilderness Area. This quiet refuge is home to an additional 34 named lakes, many featuring soft sandy beaches and framed by towering red and white pines. Motorboats are not allowed, so the peace and stillness remain undisturbed. Clark Lake is a favorite, and it even offers changing facilities at the beach.

Looking for more hidden gems? Try Imp Lake and Marion Lake, located in the untouched Ottawa National Forest just outside the wilderness area. Both have developed beaches that invite you to relax, swim, and soak up the natural beauty of the Northwoods.

Yes, the water can be brisk in early summer—but that just gives you a reason to return to shore, bask in the sunshine, and watch the gentle ripples you created fade back into glass.
Pick Strawberries at Clearwater Farms
Clearwater Farms was established in 2011 on the former site of Soder’s horse farm. We currently have 5 acres of strawberries in production along with honeyberries, blueberries, raspberries, and 60+ head of beef cattle. Steve started farming with his Dad on their Illinois grain farm when he was knee-high to a grasshopper. Now he and his family have their own piece of ground and are thrilled to provide family, friends and neighbors with healthy, fresh-from-the-farm goodness. Clearwater Farms is located at 1824 Lighthouse Rd, Eagle River, WI 54521.

Northwoods Children's Museum

As the only children’s museum in an 80-mile radius, the NCM is a vital and vibrant community resource. The goal of the Museum is to continue to grow to be able to serve families throughout the entire Northwoods. The Museum’s current Power of Play fundraising campaign will help ensure this vision is a reality. Currently only about 60% of the NCM building is actively being used as museum space. Through this fundraising campaign, NCM aims to raise the funds necessary to expand within our own building, creating more space for families to play, connect and learn. 2024 was a big year for the Museum with positive changes such as technology upgrades, an increase in marketing efforts and an increase in staff development. NCM’s 2025 plans are even bigger with fundraising, building upgrades, and developing more programming. The Power of Play and our supportive community is taking the Museum to great places.
